METALLICA, le "Black Album" en coffret collector remasterisé pour ses 30 ans
Metallica célèbre les trente ans du « Black Album » avec un nouveau coffret collector bourré de contenu inédit.
C’est l’album qui a tout changé. Figure majeure du Thrash Metal avec ses quatre premiers albums, Metallica avait choisi de prendre une nouvelle orientation avec leur cinquième album sobrement appelé Metallica qui par sa pochette a rapidement été surnommé par tout le monde comme le « Black Album ». Un choix qui a divisé les fans mais qui a fait de Metallica l’un des plus grands groupe de rock au monde. Sorti le 13 août 1991, le disque fête cette année ses trente ans avec la sortie d’une édition remasterisée le 10 septembre 2021. Il est proposée dans un luxueux coffret collector en édition limité, dans une édition Triple CD, une édition double vinyle et même en K7 Audio.
Quel fan de Metallica n’a pas été surpris en découvrant pour la première fois le titre Enter Sandman ? En faisant appel au producteur Bob Rock jusque là principalement connu comme producteur de Bon Jovi, nous aurions du nous douter que Lars Ulrich et James Hetfield comptaient faire évoluer la musique de Metallica pour leur cinquième album. Jugeant les chansons de « …And Jusctice For All » trop longues et trop complexes, les musiciens ont choisi de délaisser le thrash Metal pour s’orienter vers un hard rock bien plus accessible aux titres bien plus courts. Ils ont même oser pour la première fois écrire une chanson d’amour avec le titre Nothing Else Matters. Enregistré durant huit mois au studio One On One à Los Angeles, la gestation de cinquième album fut plus que tumultueuse tant le groupe a été bousculé par leur nouveau producteur. Mais au final tout ce travail a fini par payer puisque cet album a battu tous les records de vente pour Metallica avec plus de 35 millions d’exemplaires vendus à travers le monde dont 16 millions rien qu’aux Etats Unis.
Pour cette réédition, le « Black Album » a été remasterisé par Bob Ludwign au studio Gateway Mastering. Le reste du contenu de l’édition collector a été remastérisé par Reuben Cohen au studio Lurssen Mastering. Le tout à de nouveau été supervisé par Greg Fidelman, producteur de « Hardwired… To Self Destruct » et du live S&M². Vendu plus de 200€, le coffret contiendra l’album « Metallica » en double Vinyle et en CD accompagné d’un picture disc de « Sad But True« , trois vinyle live, cinq CDs de démos et de rough mix, six CDs live, six DVD live et derrière les coulisses accompagnés de reproduction des pages des paroles, trois lithographies, une lanière, un pass de la tournée, trois médiators et un livre de 120 pages rempli de photos inédites et de témoignages.
